Classics at the Merc

We dance into summer with a distinctly Latin beat as we welcome The Stanton Street Duo to The Merc this Sunday.
The Stanton Street Duo is a contemporary tango ensemble comprised of chromatic harmonica and 7-string guitar. Since participating as finalists in the CAG Elmaleh Competition in NYC, the duo has performed throughout the USA and Mexico.
Praised for their evocative performances and intense musical chemistry, the Stanton Street Duo attracts a diverse range of audiences. Their electrifying renditions of traditional and contemporary tango music make for dynamic and unique experiences that connect listeners to a re-imagined setting of the style. Their pioneering approach has led to the creation of their own original works and newly commissioned pieces for this distinctive instrumental combination.
Alan and Tatiana both studied Classical Guitar Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The duo formed in 2021 alongside the birth of their daughter, the same year in which Alan discovered the chromatic harmonica.
Join us in The Merc on the 2nd Sunday of each month for chamber performances by the region’s best professional musicians. The intimate setting of The Merc allows the audience and musicians to interact with each other so you can learn about the musicians, their instruments, their careers, and the music they perform.
