A Viennese Jew born in Hungary, Goldmark was very prolific during his lifetime: eight Operas, choral pieces, piano pieces, lieder, chamber and orchestral music, including two Symphonies and two violin concertos. When Goldmark passed away, he was one of the most celebrated composers in Europe. His impressive work was banned and burned by the Nazis, leaving many pieces still missing.
