Pianist David Kaplan returns for a concert featuring violinist and Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s Concertmaster, YuEun Gemma Kim, soprano Liv Redpath, and friends. The New York Times noted Kaplan’s “striking imagination and creativity” and the Berliner Umschau said of Redpath “[she possesses] “a radiant voice, effortless even in the highest register, with breathtaking coloratura, the likes of which have not been heard for a long time.” Ms. Kim, a former student of Midori, is known to Music Guild audiences for her passionate solo and ensemble playing. Together, they are joined by several friends to present an evening of chamber and vocal music chosen for the Valentine’s Day occasion, including intimate works by Brahms, Copland, and Shaw, and ending with Franz Schubert’s wonderfully melodic “Trout” Quintet.
