Morton Feldman Centennial Marathon: Day 1

Morton Feldman (1926-1987) slowed music to a near standstill, exploring glacial stillness over long expanses of time. With a particular fondness for piano, his solo and small-group works are especially beautiful. Piano Spheres celebrates the centennial of one of the 20th century’s greatest composers with a marathon program stretching over two days in two venues. Among the many highlights of rarely performed works will be Piano and String Quartet, which was premiered 40 years ago in Los Angeles.

Curated by Vicki Ray and the artists of Piano Spheres, the celebration includes guest artists devoted to Feldman’s music, including: Rachel Beetz, Dustin Donohue, Erika Duke, The Eclipse Quartet, Conor Hanick, Jonathan Hepfer, Michael Matsuno, Andrew McIntosh, Todd Moellenberg, and Amy Williams.
