New Hollywood String Quartet

Restoration Concerts will launch its 2026/2027 season on Sunday, September 13 at 4:00 p.m. featuring the New Hollywood String Quartet, the Restoration Concerts’ Quartet in Residence. The quartet will present a program that spans eras and styles, moving from classical elegance (Mozart’s String Quartet in G) to romantic intimacy (Schubert’s String Quartet in E-flat major) and impressionist color (Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major).

After the concert, the audience will be invited to a cake reception celebrating 30 years of bringing quality affordable chamber music to the community. The concert and reception will be held in the beautiful South Pasadena Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro St. in South Pasadena. Originally built as a library with a Carnegie grant, the room is known for its excellent musical acoustics. The New Hollywood String Quartet (NHSQ) had its debut concert in Los Angeles on Jan. 9, 2001 and has been performing to critical acclaim ever since. Individually, and together as one of the top string quartets in Southern California, the NHSQ are well known guests at many of the most prestigious concert series in Los Angeles and its environs.

Inspired by the great Hollywood String Quartet from over half a century ago, the current members of the New Hollywood String Quartet are likewise premiere performers of their generation. The quartet members are Tereza Stanislav – violin, Rafael Rishik – violin, Robert Brophy – viola, and Andrew Shulman – cello. Its members reside in Los Angeles and have recorded hundreds of film scores, are members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and have decades of chamber music experience between them.
