Tseng & Cheng

Experience a remarkable musical dialogue between Paul Tseng, the Artistic Director of SDSM, and Ching-Ming Cheng, the Chair of the Music Department at CSU San Marcos. Recently inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame, Ching-Ming brings a wealth of talent to this concert.

I’m excited to have the opportunity to give a concert of great music for cello and piano with Ching-Ming Cheng, a fantastic pianist and music department chair of CSU San Marcos.

We’ll be playing on the Music by the Sea concert series in Encinitas. The program will include: Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch, Romance by Liu Zhuang, Adagio and Allegro by Robert Schumann, and the epic Sonata for Cello and Piano in C by Sergei Prokofiev.

I’m particularly looking forward to sharing the Prokofiev Sonata with you. It’s a piece born of the friendship between the older master composer, and the young virtuoso cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, from whom the work was written.
